OnePlus has officially launched the most awaited smartphone the Oneplus Nord on 21st July. This device will stand with the company’s premium smartphone lineup like the OnePlus 8 and one plus 8 Pro. The OnePlus Nord is officially launched with a Mid range Chipset and some specifications just as same as the OnePlus 8. So, before its launch here is the difference between the two smartphones and how it compares?
The Oneplus Nord has launched with an aluminum chassis and toughened glass at the rear and its front display is flat rather than being curved which lacks a premium user experience. Images of the OnePlus Nord suggest that the camera features on its top left corner at the rear. It is also packed with an IP rating of IP53 and 159.2 x 74 x 8.6mm in dimension which is pretty slim and the Signature Sound and Vibrate Slider can also be seen.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus 8 features an aluminum chassis with a rear glass finish and also with its curved front display which offers a more premium user experience. The camera is located at the center and the IP rating is also higher than its small buddy the OnePlus Nord. It is also a bit taller than Nord with its dimensions at 160.2 x 72.9 x 8mm. Both phones do not support 3.5mm earphone jack.
The OnePlus Nord is rumored to offer a 6.4-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and with its pixel density at 408 ppi. Its also features a 90Hz refresh rate on its display as Carl Pei Cofounder and Head of OnePlus Global has said on stage at the OnePlus 7T launch event that the company will not launch any smartphone with a slower refresh rate other than 90Hz.
And, the OnePlus 8 has a slightly larger 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display that offers the same resolution of 1080 x 2400 featured in OnePlus Nord which in turn lowers the pixel density at 402 ppi, which is slightly lower than the Nord due to increase in its screen size but it is not noticeable to human eye. It also features a 90Hz refresh rate. Both phones offer Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the top. Screen-to-body is slightly larger than OnePlus Nord and because of the curved display, it offers a premium feel in our hand.
The OnePlus Nord is featured with a quad camera setup at the rear which specifies a 48-megapixel f/1.8 Main camera, 8-megapixel f/2.3 ultra-wide camera, 5-megapixel f/2.4 macro and 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor which also offers OIS. The front camera of the OnePlus Nord features a 32-megapixel f/2.5 punch-hole camera and 8-megapixel f/2.5 ultrawide which is located in the corner of the display at the top.
Whereas, the Oneplus 8 has a Triple camera setup with a 48-megapixel f/1.8 main sensor, 16-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel f/2.4 macro sensor. It also offers a 16-megapixel f/2.0 punch-hole single camera at the front. So, just like the specification suggests that the OnePlus 8 has quite a better selfie camera compared to the OnePlus Nord despite having a single camera at the front it outperforms the OnePlus Nord in terms of Depth of field and Bokeh effect.
OnePlus Nord features a Qualcomm SDM765 Snapdragon 765G (SDM765) chipset at its core, which also supports 5G capabilities. Like its rival counterparts it has launched with 6GB, 8GB and 12GB of RAM along with 64GB, 128GB and 256GB of onboard storage respectively. As we know that there is no fingerprint sensor at the rear but it offers an optical in-display fingerprint sensor which is fast just like the older OnePlus devices. It also offers Adreno 620 GPU which is best compared to its price. Today, Smartphone gaming has become an essential factor while comparing two smartphone So, OnePlus Nord handles every game smoothly at its highest resolution.
The OnePlus 8 has a more powerful chipset in the present market which is Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 (SM8250) chipset, along with X55 modem, so it is also 5G enabled. OnePlus 8 also features 8GB and 12GB of RAM along with 128GB and 256GB of onboard storage respectively. It also features an in-display fingerprint Sensor which is blazing fast and one of the best optical in-display fingerprint sensors available in today’s market. It also has an Adreno 650 GPU which effectively handles every game at its highest performance settings without any lag. Compared to its specs OnePlus 8 outperforms Nord but without any noticeable difference.
Both phones offer Android 10 out of the box with its simplest Oxygen OS 10.0 and both phones have upgrades for at least two years.
OnePlus Nord offers a Non-removable Li-Po 4115 mAh battery while OnePlus 8 offers Non-removable Li-Po 4300 mAh battery. So, we can see a slight difference in overall usage. Both offers fast charging at 30W
